Just A Sharp Scratch
Just a Sharp Scratch was created as a platform to amplify the voices of Nursing Associates and frontline healthcare professionals who are often overlooked in mainstream conversations. Founded by Martyn Davey, a passionate advocate and Nursing Associate himself, the podcast was born out of a need to celebrate lived experience, challenge misconceptions, and spotlight the impact of those working across the NHS and global healthcare systems. Through honest conversations, expert interviews, and powerful personal stories, the show offers a space where healthcare workers can speak freely, educate the public, and connect across roles, countries, and disciplines.
Looking Ahead
The future of Just a Sharp Scratch is ambitious and community-driven. Alongside the main podcast, a mini-series called The Extra Dose has launched to explore international perspectives, specialist roles, and pressing health issues. Plans are already in motion for a documentary-style YouTube series — A Day in the Life of a Nursing Associate — backed by NHS England. There’s also a growing campaign arm, including the ‘Countdown to Change’ petition, aimed at reshaping how Nursing Associates are recognised and supported. With future goals including scholarships, partnerships, and live events, Just a Sharp Scratch is evolving into a dynamic movement for change in healthcare — one voice at a time.
